Your design is yours. The kind of leak where a subcontractor posts prototype photos on social media does not happen here.
A barrel design is an asset before it is released. This service is built to hold your data in trust. Here is what we actually do.
The rights are 100% yours
All rights to the designs you create belong to you. We never reuse them, use them for machine learning, or provide or sell them to third parties.
Accounts are fully isolated
Data is stored separately for each account, and other users cannot see your designs. Every access is limited to the logged-in owner; there is no path to reach another account’s data (verified by audit).
Stored data is encrypted
Stored design data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Even if the database were read directly, the contents are ciphertext.
Public only when you choose
Your designs are made public only when you enable sharing. By default no one can see them. We never post them to social media or anywhere else on our own.
We do not browse your work
In normal operation we do not view the contents of your designs. We review contents only when we need to respond to a request from you, such as investigating a bug; even then we review only the data you explicitly provided, for that purpose, and stop once it is done.
We don’t disclose who our customers are
We never reveal which brands or companies use this service. We show a name or logo only when that party has explicitly agreed.
Evidence that “it did not leak from us”
Occasionally a similar barrel appears from another maker. That is exactly why we make sure the facts can be shown if it ever matters.
- Every design carries a tamper-resistant, timestamped serial — a record of what you made and when.
- Barrel shapes have a finite design space, and similar designs can arise independently. Similarity alone is not evidence of a leak.
- With the encryption, per-account isolation, and non-disclosure above, there is structurally no path for a design to leak outward through the platform.
Handing over to a manufacturing partner
When you order from a factory, we hand over only the data needed for that order. We require confidentiality from manufacturing partners and work with them on the basis that they will not publish or repurpose your design. (Actual machining is performed by a third-party factory, so physical on-site control is each factory’s responsibility.)
This is a business, not a hobby.
This service is operated by SATUMOTO as a business. We maintain terms of service, statutory commercial disclosures, and a security setup, and we run it on the premise of holding your assets in trust. This is not a side project.
An honest note
The server decrypts data only for the moment it generates drawings, 3D, and manufacturing data. So we do not claim “we can never technically decrypt it” (end-to-end encryption). Our promise is backed by encryption, per-account isolation, access control, and operational rules. Not overstating what we cannot do is, we believe, the strongest form of trust.
The details are set out in the Terms of Service (Articles 5 and 6).
